Gilber Arana Yampi nace en la ciudad del Cuzco, Perú. Inició sus estudios y prácticas en el arte a temprana edad en el taller familiar Marmolería Arana; es egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Bellas Artes del Cuzco en la especialidad de pintura y escultura.
El artista es creador de numerosas obras que han sido reconocidas a nivel mundial. Arana es el creador y pionero del “Ajedrez histórico Inca-Español” tallado íntegramente en piedra y del cual se han realizado innumerables copias y versiones y el cual se ha vendido mundialmente. El artista tiene registrada la autoría de esta obra en el Perú.
Arana es considerado "Maestro del Arte popular en el Perú" por el instituto nacional de cultura y ha sido nombrado embajador cultural del Cuzco por el ministerio de industrias y turismo. Ha realizado presentaciones y creado escuelas y talleres para el desarrollo del arte en piedra en ciudades como San Blas, Santiago, Wanchaq y en los valles de Urubamba y Quillabamba en el Cuzco. Su obra ha sido reconocida y expuesta nacionalmente en salas importantes y ferias de arte y artesanías e internacionalmente en países como Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Brasil y España. Ha recibido premios y distinciones y ocupado primeros puestos en concursos, siendo el “EXPO Sevilla 92. Encuentro de Dos Mundos” uno de los principales de su carrera. Es miembro de la asociación de artistas plásticos “Vinatea Reinoso” y de la asociación peruana de artistas visuales (ASPAV).
Gilber Arana Yampi was born in the city of Cuzco, Peru. He began his studies and practices in art at an early age in the family workshop "Marmolería Arana"; He graduated from the University of Fine Arts of Cuzco with a major in Painting and Sculpture.
The artist is the creator of many pieces that have been recognized worldwide. Arana is the creator and pioneer of the "historic Inca-Spanish Chess" fully carved in stone, original idea which has made countless copies and versions that have been sold worldwide. The artist has recorded the authorship of this work in Peru.
Arana is considered Master of Folk Art in Peru, by the National Institute of Culture and has been named Cultural Ambassador of Cuzco by the ministry of industry and tourism. He has performed and created schools and workshops for the development of stone sculpture in cities such as San Blas, Santiago, Wanchaq and valleys of Urubamba and Quillabamba in Cuzco, Peru. His work has been recognized and exhibited nationally in major Galleries and arts and crafts fairs and internationally in countries such as Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil and Spain. He has received awards and honors and occupied top positions in competitions, being the "EXPO Sevilla 92. Meeting of Two Worlds" a major milestone of his career. He is a member of the association of artists "Vinatea Reinoso" and the Peruvian Association of Visual Artists (ASPAV).
